Diving At Electric Beach (October 19, 2006)

This was Caleb's first REAL dive after being certified. As it ends up, it was a very memorable dive!

This is "Electric Beach." There is an electric plant across the road (behind me in this picture) that pipes hot water used for cooling, out to the ocean. This creates a warm spot, a couple hundred yards offshore, where many fish congregate. This was our destination.

In this picture, you can see Toby and Caleb in the water. Why, you might ask, are they out in the water while I am on shore? Because after we all got in the water, I realized I left my camera in the car. Thus, in full scuba gear, I had to treck up the steep rocky path back to the car to get it. This was the first of several memorable "oops" during this dive.

On the way out to the hot water, we found a couple of these big pipes, with lots of things growing on them. This one is leaking bubbles.
